What is College Wrecks Your Sleep?
College Wrecks Your Sleep developed the College Sleep Hacks™ — an online sleep program for college students. The program consists of 25 interactive Sleep Hacks that take 5 to 7 minutes each to complete on our website. It takes about 2–3 hours to finish the program. Daily reminders are delivered by text or email, and the Sleep Hacks unlock at a pace the student picks. The program costs $99 once, includes lifetime access, and requires no subscription.

Why pay for this when I can just Google better sleep?
You can, and the information is out there. But it’s a lot of very technical information, and it takes a significant amount of time to get to the facts that matter.
Here’s the other problem: Google gives you the same four tips every time — consistent schedule, dark cool room, no phone before bed, twenty-minute naps. All correct, all free, and all of them ask a student to maintain a new behavior every night in an environment built to prevent it. That’s the version that doesn’t survive week two.
And there’s a simpler issue. You could Google it. The student won’t. Nobody researches sleep science at eighteen — they research it at forty, after fifteen years of bad sleep, which is roughly when I did.
We already did the reading and distilled the relevant facts into twenty-five interactive Sleep Hacks that reflect the realities of college housing — dorm, fraternity house, sorority house, off-campus. Each one takes five to seven minutes, with the research included for students who want to go deeper. The facts are free. Having them built into interactive hacks, delivered, and actually read is the value we provide.
How is this different from Calm or Headspace?
They’re not really the same category. Calm and Headspace are content to fall asleep to — sleep stories, soundscapes, meditations. They’re good at that and they’re cheap, and if the student wants one, they should get one.
This teaches them why they’re awake. Why the 5pm energy drink is still working at midnight, what alcohol does to the second half of the night, why the room temperature matters more than the mattress. It’s education, not a relaxation tool, and the two aren’t in conflict.
Does the student’s school already offer something like this?
Some do. Some campuses license a third-party sleep program for their students, and many have a wellness platform with sleep content in it. Those licensed programs are sold to institutions rather than to families — you cannot buy one the way you can buy our College Sleep Hacks™. Worth asking the student’s health center before you buy anything — though in the largest study to ask, roughly three quarters of students said they had never received any information about sleep from their university.
Where a school does cover it, it is typically one session inside a broader wellness program. This is twenty-five interactive Sleep Hacks delivered over 5 or 25 days, at whatever pace the student picks — and they keep all of it.
Who made this?
I did. I’m Dave Knoepfle, and I built this after watching my daughter Ellie sleep badly her freshman and sophomore years at Michigan State.
I’ve worked in the supplements industry for years and thought about building a sleep supplement for college students, until I read the research and found the evidence didn’t hold up. So I dug in further. What ended up on the site is 74 peer-reviewed studies, including systematic reviews drawing on more than 60 randomized controlled trials, from some of the top universities. I used AI to help me work through it and narrow things down to the 25 Sleep Hacks with the biggest impact on sleep at school. Then I wrote each one, working with college students, and launched in July 2026.
Students have been generous with feedback — including the critical kind — and I can’t wait to hear what the student thinks.
A more detailed version of my story is on the About page. If you have any questions, email me at dave@collegewrecksyoursleep.com.
If I pay, how does the student access the program?
After you buy, you get a registration code by email. You send it to the student — text, email, however you normally reach them — and they use it to set up their own account.
That’s the whole handoff. Full walkthrough on How it works.
What if the student doesn’t like it or won’t start it?
Each Sleep Hack is five to seven minutes, arrives on their own phone, and they set the pace. There’s no homework, no deadline, and nobody grading it. If they haven’t started, or if they skip a few days, they’ll get two reminder emails previewing what’s coming next. That’s the extent of it.
The account is theirs, not yours — no report at the end, and nothing for them to keep up with.
Twenty-five Sleep Hacks, and students take what’s useful to them. Some changes are easy and they’ll make them; others they’ll file away for later. Either way, by the end they know what’s actually costing them sleep — and that’s the part that sticks.
And if it genuinely isn’t for them: full refund within 60 days if they’ve opened 10 or fewer Sleep Hacks. That’s ten chances to decide, and you get everything back.
Best way to find out before you buy — send them the free caffeine hack. No code, no signup. If they find that one useful, the other 24 are the same thing.
Can I buy this for more than one student?
Yes. It’s $99 for the first student and $49 for each additional student, good for a year from your original purchase — so if you have a sophomore now and a freshman next fall, you’re covered.
Each student gets their own account, their own code, and their own everything. Nobody shares a login or sees anyone else’s answers.
Right now, additional students are added by hand: email support@collegewrecksyoursleep.com with your order and we’ll send a code the same day.
What if the student is 17?
The program is for students 18 and older, so they’ll need to be 18 to register their own account — and checkout asks you to confirm the student is already 18 before it will let you buy. Please don’t tick that box for a student who isn’t.
That’s a real timing issue for a lot of freshmen, so we handle it by hand instead. Email support@collegewrecksyoursleep.com with the student’s birthday before you buy, and we’ll set the purchase up for you and schedule their registration notice for after they turn 18 — and we’ll make sure the timing works on our end.
Is this a treatment for insomnia?
No, and I want to be clear about that. If the student has real insomnia — chronic trouble sleeping that isn’t explained by their schedule — that’s a medical issue and there are evidence-based treatments for it, mostly CBT-I, delivered through a doctor.
This is for a healthy student sleeping badly because of caffeine, alcohol, an 8am, a roommate, and a room they can’t cool. That’s most students, and it isn’t a medical problem. It’s an information problem.
